Yea most people are perferring DSB over Crushed Coral.

Just better looking and easier to clean.

I would suggest the change.

Good Luck!!

I had CC and removed it because I didn't like it, but if you're happy with the tank and don't mind possible nitrate and aesthetic issues, you could just leave it. Removing it is a fair amount of work and has some risks.

I guess im from the old school. I had a sw tank like 15 years ago and then it was cc and ugf was the accepted method. Things change...javascript:smilie('')

If you go UGF, the CC will work better... One reefer here on RC still uses a UGF, and the tank looks okay. I wouldn't do it that way, though.

You could always go starboard BB

I don't have CC, I use sand, but I'm not a DSB fan. My sandbed is only 1" deep. If you're gonna do DSB, do at least 5.5-6".

To understand how a DSB works, read these (http://gutfeeling.mine.nu/my/dsb.html).
If you can't provide those basic things, I would suggest you use a different method.
