How long can you reef go w/out the lights on?

The reason I'm asking is because I'm combating a hair algae problem and the lights have been off for about two days. Is there any danger to the few corals I have? I mostly have mushrooms and some star polyps. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Definitely dangerous. I wouldn't run without lights for more than a day unless I had a REALLY good reason to.

You have a hair algae problem because of excess nutrients and no competition. Figure out where the nutrients are coming from or else you'll be battling nusiance algae of one type or another for all eternity.
