I just got off the phone the other day with Dave. He was extreamly helpful and helped me with a product I purchased at AquaFX (when he was there). For my troubles he threw in some extra pre-filters for free. I would recommend them!

Hey Whirley, how can I get one of those coupons?

I have been emailing reefpure to get more information, and you are correct, they have very timely replies, and seem very professional.

I will likely be purchasing an RO/DI unit in the next couple days.

too bad their site is misleading. Their basic 3 stage unit is RO not RO/DI as listed.

We are upset with the webmaster. He built our entire site keeping me up until late hours of the morning. Yes lots of coffee, not to mention we did this in 4 days. Oh yea our webmaster has a wife and a dog that he takes for a walk every night and believe me he is no spring chicken.

It is fixed already thanks for the insite..

We also would like to add that we use a three housing bracket for easy upgrade to a 4-stage RO/DI.....why buy a new bracket?

Thanks for bring the error to our attention. You are right, the Cyclone does not have a DI, but the other models do and DI can be easily added to the Cyclone later.

We fixed the error immediately after I read your post. Like Dave said, we put the site together pretty fast and we are still actively working on it. Now he is nagging me to put up the Technical Info pages.... Again, thanks.

Hello All
I just want to tell a little story about something that happened to me. A short time ago I bid on and won a four stage RO/DI unit on ebay from Robert Irving of
Reefpure Inc. I accidently paypaled the payment to the wrong person,Marianne Brizio of Aqua FX. I asked her to return the money to my paypal account, but got no response from her in any way.
When I told the guys at Reefpure what had happened,Dave Visovatti from Reefpure Inc. www.aquariumwaterfilter.com offered to send me the unit I had won without having to pay for it again.
I thought that a few more people should know what kind of people you would be dealing with at Reefpure. This has got to be the best company that I have ever dealt with.

This was not so much about the money,(although that is not a small thing),or about Aqua FX,but rather about what the people at Reefpure did for me even though they didn't have to.

After reading the above post I looked into the "payment" and the no response issue. I contacted bmiller. I ask him for a copy of the e.mail he sent me. He was so kind to reply. I am posting a copy. As you can see Mr. Miller not only sent the money to the wrong place but he also e.mailed the wrong place. An honest mistake I am sure.

I do not know why when the folks a reefpure recieved this misdirected email they did not notify their customer.
Anyway,

Hey guys,
My name is Sang Lee, and I live in Ca. I just recieved my rodi today and it rocks!! It is put together soooooooo nicely. Now, before you discount what I have to say about the company, I am in no way affiliated with Reefpure. I am just a happy customer. If you wanna bash me, so be it. I am well known on the irc chats and several moderators can vouch for me here. I've been reading all these negative comments on the boards and feel that it is unfair. Dave from Reefpure is a great guy. He stands by his products and has great service. I urge everyone to give his company a chance. You will not be disappointed.

Big thumbs up to Dave and the guys at Reefpure. Great deal on my RO/Drinking water/DI system. Excellent customer service. I have called the guy on about 6 different instances for questions on a unit that he put together for me. I really wanted to get all the features right the first time. Always good to talk with Dave and he even helped me with my questionshttp://www.data-techniques.net/cwm/contrib/corky/corkysm21.gif

I would recommend Reefpure (http://www.aquariumwaterfilter.com/) to anyone who is looking for a quality RO/DI filter for their tanks. A very good experience.

My unit showed up on last Wednesday. I got it hooked up on Saturday evening. It did have some shipping damage. Looked like the shipper drop kicked it a few times:mad: . Ended up with a broken chack valve and a leaking ball valve. I simply removed these and plumbed up the unit. Only real problem I have had is with the float valve sticking shut on my storage tank. This item isn't made by Reefpure, so I don't attribute it's problem to them.

At any rate I gave Dave a call on Monday and let him know that a couple of parts were damaged in shipping and the float valve was sticking. He went into immediate action and has sent me out replacements and spares for not only the damaged components, but also a new valve for the storage tank. IMO you can't get much better product support.

Only other item I can mention is that I actually recieved 2 TDS meters. Upon contacting Dave he just said to give it to a friend. That is pretty cool:D . I definitely plan on supporting Reefpure for my RO/DI needs. Check them out if you are in the market.

I recently bought a 24gpd ro/di kit from Reefpure at Ebay. The unit was shipped to me very quickly and came very neatly packaged.

After carefully unpacking the unit I proceeded to hook it up using the faucet kit that came with it. Unfortunately I discovered the unit was not producing a drop of water. I thought to myself this cannot be real, I really hate dealing with companies that are not local.

I called Dave at Reefpure and he had me do some tests on the unit with no luck. He apologized and told me to toss the RO unit and he would ship one early next morning. Two days later I received the RO membrane and two extra filters (sediment and carbon). To my surprise he shipped me a 50 gpd unit at no additional charge :)

I can honestly say that Dave has gone out of his way to make sure I'm satisfied with his product and customer service.

I will not hesitate to buy again and again from Reefpure. They use the best form of advertising, which is having great customer service and stand behind their products.

Thanks Dave.

I too ordered the ReefPure 24 GPD on Ebay. Dave was kind enough to upgrade to the 50GPD Tornado. When the package arrived, it was missing an additional item. When I called and spoke to Dave he apologized and offered to send the item out immediately no questions asked. In addition, he offered to automate the tank leveler for me so I could just drop it in the sump and go.

All in all very pleasant to deal with, and I would highly reccommend.

hi,
i have been reading all the threads about reefpure, and they sound like a very good investment, but does anyone know about how the do treating well water in a location where pesticieds and farming are a factor. the only company that has given me feedback on this is kent, which is so far my choice, but i just e-mailed reefpure and am waiting for their reply before i make a purchase and also some feedback from youguys also. thanks
p.s. i have been reading more post and what about aquatic reef systems, i will probably get a 50/50 response here though.

While I can't specifically answer your question regarding well water, I can tell you that I am VERY happy with my Reefpure RO/DI unit. The product is extremely well built and the customer service is exceptional. I would think that all of these units regardless of who makes them are pretty much going to use the same kind of parts. I think the question really comes down to quality/customer service.

pirate6801, to answer your question...an RO/DI system is great at removing pesticides from your water. Unfortunately treating tap water and water with known or suspected contaminants is not the same.

Unless you deal with the specific contaminants you WILL have problems.

Water treatment is not a one size fits all (unless you are treating water that has basic purity levels, TAP WATER).

I am an Environmental Engineer, I will be glad to direct you.

You need to make sure the company you do business with is qualified!

well i am in the process of installing a new whole house filter in addition to the RO/DI, it is a unit i bought at lowe,s(our home depot) which is designed for my system, i do have a deep well so it should be pretty clean, but i still have to test my well water, but i have to find a test kit i can use for it, do you have an idea for that. but all in all this should not be a problem, bryan at aquatic reef hooked me up. thanks. www.aquaticreefsystems.com

Quality Product - I purchased the same unit - 4 stage Oceanis 100 gpd 4 months ago. It is an excellent choice. I run this unit on my well and have 0 tds out of the DI. I also live in an area where fertilizer and pesticides where a concern. 0 out of the DI on ammonia, nitrites and nitrates. I am certainly not a chemist and this is far from scientific however, all fish and corals are thriving in this water.

Customer Service - Bryan Crenshaw excels in this arena. He was extremely helpful and informative before and after my purchase.

Marianne - "I am an Environmental Engineer, I will be glad to direct you. "
Test for all byproducts of farmland fertilization and pesticides in well water before the purchase? Make a recommendation and sale and then test again to verify filtration. That is something!!
What do you add to your system to combat these contaminants other then the basic setups on your site?

"You need to make sure the company you do business with is qualified!"
I noticed on your post you originally had Bryan's name then changed it to "the company"
I have seen posts from you in the past harassing Bryan. Are you still bitter from his success after he left Aquafx?
Bryan is extremely knowledgeable on water filtration systems.
Let the products and service speak for themselves instead of attempting to make yourself sound better by unwarranted attempts to degrade anothers product or knowledge.
My choice was between his system and Aquafx. I made the right decision. 100 percent satisfied because of his service and product. I would order again in a second.

I really can't say it enough that Bryan & Aquatic Reef Systems is the best company I've found for RO/DI systems/products. The customer service is outstanding and each customer is made to feel like they are THE MOST important customer the company has. That's extremely impressive IMO. Although, I think he needs to quit the caffeine....he's just WAAAAY to enthusiastic about his job :D

If you are dealing with pesticides and herbicides a single 10 carbon block will not do. I was trying to save heartache.

It is not correct to say that a percentage of VOC contaminant will be removed with a 10-inch carbon. You need to know the concentration and flow rates. Contact time is everything in this case.

When I offered to direct him, I did not offer to "sell him" I am surprised you would see offering help to someone as being bitter.

I am surprised by your response to an offer of help. You talk about service then find it distasteful when it offered?

To Everyone on this thread:

After reading every post above, I made my decision about the brand of RO/DI unit.

I'd been thinking about SpectraPure, and several others whose names excape me (senior moment). After reading the good comments about Aquatic Reef Systems and the service Bryan gives, I called him and ordered the Oceanus 100gpd unit.

He's running a special on this 4 stage RO/DI 100gpd unit for a limited time. Regularly $229 for just $199, Merry Christmas to me. You people sitting on the fence about RO or RO/DI give him a call. I found Bryan to be very helpful.

Thanks Bryan!!! Merry Christmas to you, too!

Hi! Okay, I am going to order an ro/di unit because I don't think my water is all that great and want to make sure I have low-maintenance system. Ugh. Okay, a 50gpd Tornado unit at Reefpure is 199$, does that not seem a bit high?? A 75gpd unit with 5 stages on e-bay new is 130$. Is there something that is better about these units that I am not understanding, everyone seems to have recommended them. Some said they god an 'unbeatable' deal from them, how did you do that?? Should I call and ask for a better deal or something?

Thanks for your help

Thanks to you both for your replies! Yeah, Gayle, I wouldn't mind taking a look at it when your in town:) Boca is not too far from me, i'm in Coral Springs. I don't have the best understanding of this whole deal, but I do know that I am battling diatoms/brown algae in my FW tank and that that is the last thing I want to deal with in this tank, so I figure that this would be a good idea:) Do you think I need a TDS meter??

ScavDog, Thanks for the tip. I'll call him, maybe they can work something out with me that will cost less than the tornado since I really dont need 50gpd.

hey, another ?... Do you hook yours up with the faucet attachment and use it only a couple times a week?? I was planning on just using it a couple of times a week, but maybe it is easier to install it under the sink since I may need a gallon a day for top off and kalk dosing at night. Hey DC,

I haven't even taken it out of the box. All of this is for the new tank which hopefully will be set up after the Holidays. I'm not exactly sure how the auto topoff works, maybe you can help me figure it out how to hook it up.

Angela,

I will hook mine up to an outside water line. But I think most people just run it off their faucet and store it in a 5 gal container.

Hey Gayle,
You have a novel approach:

Get all of the necessary equipment before you need it.

I always get some equipment, install that, and then tear it down when the next piece shows up. I always think I can figure out a better way to do it. I am pretty happy with the system as I have it now. Except for the bubbles and the auto topoff.

Dave is great at trying to help me figure this out.
