Hi everyone!
I wanted to get an RO/DI unit before I set up my new 112g tank, but am not really sure what kind I shoud get. I.E. make and modle. I was thinking a 100gpd would be good but I wanted to get some input from others before I just whipped out the lo' Visa. hehe Anyone had good or bad experiences?
Thanks for the replys.

Ps. I already did a search on RO/DI and didnt find what I was looking for:D

I use an airwaterice.com Typhoon III. Very nice unit. Get the 75 GPD - the 100 GPD uses a membrane that results in slightly lower quality water.

If you're on a budget many people use the units sold off eBay for around $100 or so.

I've got one from filterdirect off ebay. It works very well and i get my water to read 0 on a tds meter every time i make water. Get yourself a 75gpd or lower model(unless you want the tank for drinking water...which i have. Get yourself the backflush/flowrestrictor valve from www.buckeyefieldsupply.com with the money you save by buying from filterdirect. It will allow you to adjust waste water flow to get your readings perfect and also i backflush for about 10 seconds or so each time i make water(keeps membrane cleaner and prolongs the life of it)

I purchased a RO/DI from Aquasafe on Ebay. The unit works great and was reasonably priced. Mine is 75gpd and even came with a 4 gal storage tank. I have done some additional plumbing allowing me to have a DI bypass so I can fill bottles with water for my wife to drink. I only paid about $90 for my unit too.

Walter is really good about the warantee. Mine arrived broken, I emailed him that nite. 8:30 next morning he answered that he sent a replacement part and a UPS return lable to me. That's customer service!

You'll be happy with the Typhoon III. It's a great quality product and comes with all the accessories you'll need.

Did you order the extra set of filters? I believe he gives free shipping when you order them with the unit.

The clear canisters are nice, but do not tell you with any certainty if the filters are bad. A TDS meter will tell you definitively. You can buy the clear canisters seperately if you want to. With the opaque canisters you can just open them up every few months for a visual.

Another vote for filter direct on ebay. Got the 110 gallon / day w/ tank and could not be happier. TDS of 0 everytime.

I really dont like to buy stuff off e-bay if I dont have to. I feel like if something goes wrong I dont have anyone to call and complain. lol

FWIW: I buy AND sell on eBay. I have purchased everything from clothing to satellite radio for my car to the car itself on eBay. I SOLD my old Volkswagen on eBay for more than I could get locally. There are plenty of safeguards built in, especially if you pay using PayPal. There are always remedies if you feel you've been cheated. They rock.
