I'm getting a tank ready and it is just nasty in the overflow area of a RR tank. I'm planning on taking one of the bulkheads off (leaking) so I can get my hand in there, but how do you do it during regular maitenance?

i siphon the deteritus out when i do water changes. other than that i just use a scraper and a scrubber. just fill up with water and siphon out as fast as you can after scrubbing and scraping. not a 100% but works pretty darn good if you ask me.:D

Baby bottle brushes are great for cleaning pipes and hard to reach areas.

If there's detritus that have settled on the bottom, just use a turkey baster to stir it up either when your doing a water change n siphon it out. Or just baste it and have it go down the drain into the sump.

I do the same thing with the turkey baster and blast to get it to the sump. The sump critters are always a bit happier when I do it.;)
