razor blade was the only thing that worked on mine. I tried lime-a-way and clr without results

you don't want to use any cleaning chemical to clean the tank.

second the vinegar and razor blades.......I wouldn't use any chemicals either........by the time you put water in the tank alot of what youre looking at won't be seen anyway.

get the DAWN battery operated dish scruber brush. it's suppose to work great

Yes the Dawn scrubber works well, as does a vinegar/water solution, as does an old credit card. Elbow grease doesn't hurt any either.

If this is a used tank I would look at adding something that removes copper.

Straight vinegar, or muriatic acid if you're careful.

I'm lazy - I use vinegar in a pressure sprayer on my air compressor. It'll blow through any deposits or calcium scale in no time, with a minimum effort on my part. :)

aquarium salt and vinager with elbow grease. use the freshwater aquarium salt not the asw salt. has alway worked for me. this is also how resturaunts clean out thier burnt coffee pots but they add a little ice.
