View Full Version : Stupid clownfish - will my BTA die?

Apparently my perc 'loved' on my anenome too strong and he made a rock puncture through the center of the BTA. It now looks like a donut stretched around a rock. Will it split into two or is it doomed for? I'm leaving for the afternoon and am scared it will contaminate my tank before I get back if I leave it in there. BUT, I don't want to take it out if it has a chance. Opinions?
Here's a picture - apologize for the quality - I couldn't seem to get a real decent shot.

wow, that is the first time Ihave seen that. I have heard they can reover if you have Great water conditions. I would try to keep it away from the clow for awhile, maybe use some kind of net, or a top of a pop bottle with lots of holes for flow. Good luck, and if it starts to turn, I would remove it.

I don't know about that one. If it's still stuck to the rock I would leave it there (there's a chance it might live) and if it dies then yank it. Never seen that before either....

Makes me wonder how big your perc is!

You need to rename your perc "The Hulk"

"The Hulk?" I don't know - I was leaning towards "You Little Piece of S#&!" :)

The perc is only a little more then an inch long. He has always like to wallow in and rub all over it like crazy. I am assuming that it was him that did this with all his pushing against the BTA....I don't know what else could possibly have caused this! I'll go ahead and leave the BTA in for the moment - when he was doing a little inflating/deflating earlier I noticed that he has a foot on either side attached to a rock so maybe I'll be lucky and it'll go ahead and split.
When these things die, will I have enough warning symptoms to get him out before he dissolves in my tank, or will it be real quick? Can it make my tank crash? I'm worried that when I go to work in the morning I will come home to a disaster in the evening.
