Oceanic 72G Lighting setup

I am setting up a 72G Oceanic bowfront and am having frustration with lighting. Goal is for a reef setup and open to total wattage of 300 to 350 but have concerns with the canopy I purchased from Oceanic. Space is limited with 12" on ends, it is plastic and uncertain with heat build up from MH. Compacts appear to limit me for corals. Is a retrofit possible? Help!

you could try t5s - you may be able to get at least 6 or 7 watts per gallon. i think this is how i will light my 72BF.
