Hi new to the Saltwater thing, I currently have a 20 gal freshwater but its not doin it for me anymore. I need new lighting and i have heard good things about MH. Now i do not need a fance hood or anything, i was planning on buying this
METAL HALIDE ONLY PENDANT LIGHTING SYSTEM
Hanging Spotlight, Includes: 1 - 175 watt 5500K Metal Halide bulb, remote ballast with swtich, UV filtering acrylic lens, and shell with color of your choice.
I dont care if it hangs from the ceiling, now they have other options for a 10000k blub or 12k or 14k
Tell me What you think

First of all, what do you want to keep? I love my MH's but if you are not after clams, sps and stuff like that, I think they are overkill. It will jack up your util bill, heat and might not be necessary. Have you looked into the t-5s.
Just some thoughts.
I really like the 20k look myself, it will slow down coral growth a little.

yep, i love my t5 ho setup. for a small tank, its the best answer to lighting. you can keep sps and clams happy in a t5 only lit tank, its just that in a deep (0ver 24") tank the t5s apparently dont penetrate well to the bottom.

and with t5s, you wont have a heat issue like the mh will.

that said, i will run t5s and mh on my future big tank....
