Opinion on skimmer

Whats the thoughts on the AquaC Remora Pro W/Mag Drive 3 Skimmer? And is the surface prefilter a good idea?

It is a good skimmer. I have Pro with Rio1400 but it still works fine. The surface skimmer suppose to stop micro bubbles from escaping to the tank but sometimes bubbles get out anyway. For me only thing the prefilter does is it takes water from surface and releases the water to the bottom of the tank and you can put filter media in the box. I use SeaChem's Purigen in the box.

The box works OK...It's just that it's an inelegant solution to a common problem...And it's LARGE.
