Scarlet Hermit Crab is stuck

Hi everyone, I have just a smalll problem. My scarlet hermit crab is stuck to the filter of my power head, and I need to clean it. Any ideas as to how I can get him off? I appreciate any help that you can give.

unplug it and pull him off.

how rough can I be, as he is on quite well?

Well if he is not dead then he should come off pretty easy, he will try to pull back into his shell.
