I will be replacing my hqi bulbs in a couple of months. Problem is i have only used 14k 250 watt hamilton bulbs. When i replace the lamps i am considering using 20k. Wondering if anyone has any links or photo comparisions of the 2 bulbs

20k is much bluer than the Hammy. A bulb you may want to consider is the Phoenix "14k+"

i have used that link before and it is nice but i m not sure if it is accurate. The HQI bulbs look different and the pictures do not show the real blueish color maybe i am wrong

i think the 20k would be too blue for me. So with 4X96 watt actinic PC's what 14k bulb would you recommend. And hopefully you have some more links for me to check. That last one was a big help thank you very much. I have a lot of acros that i think would look better with bluer light but i dont want the whole tank to look blue

Brighter than the Hammy, but is still a "blue" bulb. Monster 420 and 450nm spike in the spectrum. Near 10k type output though. You can run it unsupplemented and get plenty of fluoresence. Cool bulb IMO.

moonpod is right! These bulbs kick azz! I was running Hamilton 14K DE and switched to the Phoenix 14k bulbs. All I could say was WOW!

I want a little more blueish color to help bring out the colors more but i don't want my tank to have that strong blue color

Pheonix 14K bulbs should be your choice then. I was running Hamilton 14k with VHO and since I switched to Pheonix I sold the VHO. Trust us.... You will love the color and growth!
