i have seen some pics of various aquascapes. what is the best method for securing LR into position? superglue? putty? i did not use anything and occasionally the rock in my tank (in certain areas) shifts or falls.

Epoxy putty is probably the most often used. Ive also seen people suggest stainless steel wire and all plastic zip ties. Mine is all just sitting there.

If you decide on epoxy you can go to home depot and get Harvey's Epoxy Putty in the plumbing section. A 2oz. tube will cost you about $2-3.

Although I'm not sure where, there are ultraviolet resistant tie straps available which will stand up better than conventional tie strps.

I'd just aquascape out side of the tank if its sits well then put it in your tank, I dont see the need to glue rocks together.

checkout my tank all was done without any glue or wires, I droped a 10lb rock on top of all that and didnt move anything.

wow, looks great. i notice in many pics ive seen so far that different types of coral are all close together, looks good but i thought alot of distance was needed between coral. how close can i put these damn things. definitely looks better with closer proximity, more of a continuous flow aesthetically

To post your own avatar pic, i believe you need a minimum of 100 posts, then the option is available to you.

I used acrylic dowels and a drill. I went for the "caves to swim through" look.

all just carefully placed. no glue no plastic here.BTW, i wouldnt put any metal in my tank, not even stainless. it will rust in SW unless its of the highest grade. i worked in the boat industry for a while and everything rusts in time. ive never had anything totally submerged in SW though. i owuld think this would be a worst case scenario. some plastics are not safe either. again nothing but rock here :D

i think the key is getting the bottom layer 100% stable. a house wont stand without a good foundation :D
