I can buy T5 bulbs from a local electrical distributor. My question is if the bulb at the LFS is rated at 18000K and packaged as an marine aquarium bulb and the bulb from the local electrical distributor is also rated at 18000K but not packaged as a marine bulb what is the difference between these bulbs if any?

Thanks in advance for you thoughts.

You need to make sure that whatever T5s you buy are HO bulbs. Other than that I can't think of a difference.

Are you sure about the 18000K temp??

I have two of those ati blue plus bulbs.

I love em. They are great to have esp since the T5 actinic bulbs stink.

Well the 18000K may not be correct but my question is still the same. If the K's are the same would the bulbs not be the same?

The actinic plus is 460nm around 20-22K. Great bulb.
