Lately I've been thinking about adding a phosban reactor and calcium reactor to our system. I was making plans to build my own 2 chamber cal. reactor and thought; why not put another chamber in the recirc loop to run the phosban in? I ran it by a friend who has chemistry background, and more reefing experience than myself and he didn't think it was a good idea to run the "low ph / high ca / high alk" water through the phosban (or similar) media.

With his background and experience I put a lot of weight on what he's telling me but just wanted to get a 2nd opinion. See link below for a diagram of what I'm talking about.

I would not run the GFO at the low pH of the CaCO3/CO2 reactor as it may not work as well at binding phosphate there.

Thanks Randy, back to the drawing board :)

I may or may not decide to give it a try just for kicks. It would be pretty easy to re-plumb it.

You're welcome. :)

Good luck with the tests!
