I found it attached to my CB seahorse. I believe it came with the new coral I purchased from the LFS. It seems to have survived the FW dip. Can someone tell me what it is? I have a feeling it's a bad type and my horses are doomed. :(

Try searching for "cirolanid".

Your seahorses arent doomed but you will need to take action.

Assuming all you have are seahorses in the tank, you could try examining your seahorses every night using a flashlight and simply continue removing the cirolanids as they attach to feed.

It would help if you could remove all but one seahorse and use it basically as the "sacraficial lamb".

Thanks.

I've been searching for more of these pests in the tank and so far no new ones have appeared on the horses. I'm hoping it was a lone hitchiker.

Does anyone know how long till I see babies?

Hi,

Do follow romunov's advice about cirolanids.

See the discussion of cirolanids on this page. (http://www.rshimek.com/crustaceans.htm)

If the animal is pregnant, the juveniles would likely be released within a month.
