I just did some tests on my tank and was surprised.

The Alk is reading 5.6 and I'd like it to be above 8.0. The pH is sitting at 8.0 and I'd like it to be at 8.2. What can I add/do to increase these levels?

For reef aquaria you need regular additions of calcium and alkalinity. If the pH is on the low side, then use a high pH alkalinity supplement when you need to increase alkalinity.
