I would like it to be in the 10.5 range which is where it is. But It seems to be climbing slowly. I thought I read on this fourm that it is better to keep dkh on the high side of ideal to account for testing error. If that is true how high can I keep dkh before I start taking corrective measures. My CA is 450. I use salifert test kits. Thanks -Paul

I generally recommend alkalinity in the range of 7-11 dKH, although a bit higher is OK as long as calcium is not getting depressed.

Why is it creeping up?

I am still fine tuning my calcium reactor. I will aim for 11 dkh. What is a little higher 12 dkh?
Thanks again -Paul

I would aim for seawater level 8

Yes, 11-14 is OK, IMO, as long as calcium is not depressed.

I think most seawater is lower than that, at about 7 dKH or a tad less, but 8 dKH is a fine alkalinity target. :)
