Hi, Should I get a R/O unit?? I have a auto top-off that is fed by my house water. We live in Upstate NY and my water is very clear and has no bad taste or smell. It would be nice to make up some R/O water for changes. Any ideas.

Yes, you should use RO water. Clarity is not the measure of water quality. Ionic content, dissolved organic matter, etcetera are the measures.

Air, Water & Ice makes a great Dual Home / Reef unit with 2 seperate outputs one for drinking which I will hook up to my auto top-off and the other to make water for my changes. 6 stage $200.00. Just needed a little push for someone to make me buy it.
Thanks

I'm in upstate NY, and have a well. It depends on your well.:)
We have an iron remover, and a Culligan softner and RO unit for drinking. Everythings fine.
