Hey Doc - how ya doing?

I was trying to dig up some info on Coco Worms. Unfortunately the "common" name isn't pulling up a lot of good info in searches, so I thought I might run it by you. Heck, if you could give me a latin name to do some searches on that'd help.

If I get one I was planning on feeding it Knop Korralvit F (specifically designed for clams) and a live phyto product of some sort. Any additional info on their care would be appreciated. :D

Thanks!

Hi,

They are serpulid worms, rather similar in some of their requirements to other feather dusters. I have seen a couple of different worms for sale under the common name, but the scientific name for the most common specimens is probably Protula magnifica.

They will need a lot of phytoplankton to do well, and a mix of various types (browns, greens, diatoms) will probably be best. The water should be slightly pale green (with a white paper behind it so highlight the color) for the food to be in the proper density. Feed at this density at least once a day.

Good luck. They generally starve in aquaria.
