Hey, I know this is strange, but is it possible to make your kalkwasser water at a low salinity if you are not using maximum disolvable kalkwasser levels?

My salinity slowly drops due to the pull from my skimmer. I add salt water manually in addition to my reeffiller dosing fresh with about 50% max amount of kalk in solution 24/7.

My reeffiller could easily pump more and it would be a lot easier to have it do a mixture. But, I don't know if chemically this would be bad.

Anyone know? What would the limits be on Kalk % and specific gravity for salt if you can do this?

Thanks,

Todd

No, you cannot mix any salt water and limewater. You'll get a big mess as lots of things will precipitate from the salt water (magnesium hydroxide, calcium and magneisum carbonates,etc.).

Thanks Randy. I figured you couldn't, but hadn't heard for sure anywhere.
