My new calcium reactor is set up and working well. My dkh stays pretty constant at 9.6-10. Calcium around 450. I was thnking about adding pickling lime to my top off to make it limewater to give me a little higher ph. Is that a safe thing to do as I dont need much more ca or dkh added? And does the amount of lime you add depend on how much water gets topped off in a day? My ph is 8.1-8.2 and I would like to get up to 8.3-8.4. I have a system gallons of 80 and top off almost 2 gallons a day?
Thanks -Paul

That is a fine plan. Many folks with CaCO3/CO2 reactors do that for the same reason. It won't raise calcium and alkalinity too much. If there is a rise higher than you want (unlikely), you can always back off a bit of the CO2 addition rate to cut the reactor back just enough to reestablish parameters where you want them. :)

thanks Randy- so it is safe to start out with 1tsp per gallon in my top off?

Yes, that is a fine place to start.

You're welcome and good luck! :)
