I've been using Oceanic Salt, which I just learned has too much calcium, as well as supplementing with CaCl and dripping Kalkwasser. I had been testing with Salifert Ca but couldn't get a reading. I thought Ca was too low, but infact if very high. Tested with Red Sea and got 700 ppm. Alk is around 5.1 KH. What is the best approach? Water change? Should I avoid raising Alk at this point because of ppt? How bad is this for livestock? Can I ride it out and let the corals consume the Ca? Also a bloom of brown/cyano algae but PO4 and silicate are zero. Any thoughts appreciated.
thanks Kurt

I'd supplement alkalinity to normal levels (2.5-4 meq/L, 7-11 dKH) with baking soda (or baked baking soda if the pH is on the low side) while the calcium declines on its own to about 450 ppm. Then switch over to a balanced calcium and alkalintiy system, such as limewater, the two part sytstems, or a CaCO3/CO2 reactor.

No need for a water change.
