hi randy , im all ready dosing kalk as my top off and 10 ml bionic everyday, it does keep my ph up around 8.2 during the day, but now i have another problem and need to get up around 8.6, is this possible? http://archive.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=3942798#post3942798

I do not know that high pH will work for dinos, but if you have maxed out limewtaer, and still want to raise pH for a treatment, I'd dose a slurry of lime in water. It will raise pH nearly the same as if the lime were dissolved in fresh water. So adding two teaspoons of solid lime in a cup of water will be similar to dosing a whole gallon of saturated limewater.

mmmmm, the same lime i put on my lawn? and how would this effect the overall picture, my alk is in the 4.5 range, you said this is ok since my ph is typically low, if i were to try and raise the ph , since some say it helps with dino , i dont know myself, could i potentially cause more harm than good and throw things out of whack?

No. Lime as in what you use to make "kalk". Calcium hydroxide or pickling lime.

You won't throw anything out of whack except pH if you add only lime or limewater. At least not at pH 8.6. I wouldn't intentionally go much above that.
