My college graduation is coming soon and I've managed to pick the poison that will be served that my table. I have everything picked out already except the Vodka. Which would be undoubtedly the best vodka out there?
Thanks

I think Chopin is one of the best vodkas available....followed closely by Jewel of Russia.
But I recommend these if drinking on the rocks or straight...for mixing drinks, I would go for a less expensive vodka.

I've had Jewel years ago and it is a very good vodka, but as mentioned I would go for something cheaper if you are making mixed drinks. I say you can't go wrong with Absolut for a bloody mary and I also like Grey Goose.

Hanagar One makes some wonderful falvored vodkas. Grey Goose is quite nice too.
I had a bottle of Hangar One Kafir Lime and my wife and I killed it in under a week. I don't ussually drink nearly that much and I ussually don't drink Vodka either. :)

Don't know why you would ever consider drinking Vodka when there is Gin :)

i have had some of my best drinking days with VOX. I was at one time a gray goose drinker. However, I found I like the taste of Vox a little better..

Sky is good but really for a decent $$ and a good vodka Absolute will do the trick...
Spamin...Trick is Vodka one night, Gin the next....Keeps the taste buds aroused...
Man I love both of these....A nice warm night watching the sun set and a really icy vodka or gin with a splah of tonic and a slice of lemon....

You can't go wrong with Grey Goose. I am a vodka drinker and wouldn't have anything else(well, except maybe Ketel One)

Chopin makes for an excellent martini. Forget the grey waterfowl.

Ketel One is by far my favorite. It is so smooth, I have sent my drink back for being too weak. Once they wouldn't take it back and by the second drink, I found out that it really wasn't that weak!
I have drank Grey Goose, SKYY, Absolute(which is overated) and Stoli. Ketel one is my favorite and the only I buy. Grey Goose has a very distinctive taste and I am not a big fan of it. Everyone else I talk to likes it though.
My husband makes a MEAN martini :) When he starts experimenting with different froo froo ones though, I know I am in troulbe
Oh, and Ketel one rarely leaves you with a hangover. Seriously.

I've heard Ketel (I do not drink vodka)...but I've got to call you out on that "no hangover" la de da. Alcohol = hangover (.)
Alcohol is just too dang harsh on your system. Beer.

i'm a grey goose advocate as well....but, for high value and superb taste, i highly recommend oliphant from holland...wall street journal rated it second only to grey goose....
All right a subject i can really get into (considering I am a little "goosed" at the time)
#1-grey goose I love it.............
other good ones.... pearl is good, I think it is from canada
belvi, K1, vox, iceberg, chop are all great......
pearl shaken over ice is wonderful....
There was an intresting article on slash-dot a little while back on how some people put bad vodka through a britta filter and it made it taste great....... Some new to try with the old RO/DI unti now!!!!!

I promise, drink smirnoff or worse in the same amount and conditions as you do Ketel one, and you will FEEL the difference the next day.
Just like a wine hangover is usually worse than a liquor hangover and a beer hangover is also different. Hard for me to drink much beer, it is too filling

I agree with you. I love Ketel One.
I often drink Effen Vodka at our bar, because it's just so much fun to ask for an Effen cranberry!

I haven't tried alot of Vodkas out there that have outstanding ratings. Being fairly dull and monotonous, if I like it, I tend to stick with it. I don't know why I am not a fan of Grey Goose, but the taste is almost unvodka-like. Ketel one is almost tasteless.
Taste on liquors is about like taste at the dinner table. Everyone has their favorites and you just have to find out for yourself.
I have a friend who will ONLY order house liqour. He and his wife cannot see the difference between cheap and expensive. Same with beer, at their house it is bud or the beast. I, unfortunately, have expensive taste in this dept. Their opinion is what matters to them though.
I would like to try that black vodka. Make some sort of crazy martini out of it!

I've probably tried over 50 Vodka's....
My personal experience has been that alot of the 30 plus dollar Vodka's are hyped up alot. For drinking strait or on the rocks I like anything distilled 4 or more times.
Thor's Mighty Hammer comes to mind.

Thor's Mighty Hammer
Is that the brand or the hangover :D
OMG I've had sooo many diff. brands of Vodka that I lost count. After the kids were born I swore off Southern and Vodka
But on rare occasions will have some Johnnie Walker
Back on topic: If You want a tride and true standby Absolute
is the way to go
You didn't mention a desert drink.
Get a bottle of Chambord This is something your guests will not forget:cool:

Grey Goose is so popular around here, the stores have to keep it behind the register to keep it from being stolen.

ok check this... My buddy is a bartender at a trendy bar. He has a few people that order this drink:
turn a shot glass upside down
drip a few drops of chilled vodka on the flat top of the shot glass
take straw and gently spread it out
hand the straw to the purchaser
the purchaser snorts the Vodka in thorugh his nose
Has anybody tried this?

Ok I bought the following:
Grey Goose
Finlandia
and as mixers
Dekuyper Watermelon Pucker and Island Blue Pucker
Our 10 person table already has 9 bottles of assorted alcohol bottles in addition to mine. The other guys play college football so they are some large dudes that hold their licor really well.
Thanks for the suggestions!!
