Just curious...this guy is only out at night. Hasn't moved and never seen when the lights are on. He lives deep in the hole, is he a good thing?

It could be worse, you could have 2 of them...
Yes, they're bad. Not like the apocolypse bad, kind of like Atheletes foot bad.
There are many ways to get rid of Aiptaisia, Joes Juice, Nudibranchs, injections, Copperband Butterfly fish...
Do it now before it's too late!

I have heard the peppermints are hit and miss. Some eat them and some don't.

I have used Joes Juice and it worked great. I have heard of many people shooting boiling hot water on them through a syringe with success.

Boiling hot water is also hit or miss. I've done it, it cooks them alive, they usually recover over time.
Even using biological means just makes them recede. So as long as the fish or shrimp is in your tank, you won't have a problem with Aips.
Joes Juice seems to work about as well as kalkwasser or boiling water. Not my experience, I've only had a friend that used it, it worked for some, but then he never did get rid of them. It was only when he added the copperband. The copperband got rid of most of them, but when he disappeared, the aips came back.
