Green Water HELP!!

I am a new hobbyist. My 90 gallon tank was doing well untill out of the blue I woke up in the morning and the water was completely green. I have a protein skimmer and I have added a filter with carbon in it to help clear it up, but it is not helping. I have also cut down on the amount of light and food, but that hasn't helped either. I don't know what else to do. I am getting very frustrated. Can somebody please help!! Thank You.

The problem might go away on its own if you wait. You could stop feeding for a few days, and that might help. You could also borrow a UV unit for a few days and that should help eradicate the algae.
