How do these timers work?
I would like one that I can put what hours I want my lights to turn on and off only 1 time and won't have to do it all the time. What im trying to say is that I want to set my timer only one time and never have to do it again unless I want my lights to turn on/off at diffrent times.

I'm not sure about the one listed, but I bought a digital timer from home depot. Program the times in to turn on and off (can set for each day of the week, if desired), has a battery backup of the time and schedule in case of power outage, and has a daylight savings button to adjust the time of day by an hour (I lvoe this feature!). It has worked great for me.

I just use a couple digital timers from WalMart. They can have multiple times set on them to turn on and off.

That timer is 500 watts?
That's alot of what's.
Or do they mean I can put 500 watts on that thing?
I don't really understand what they mean...... http://www.homedepot.com/prel80/HDUS/EN_US/diy_main/pg_diy.jsp?CNTTYPE=PROD_META&CNTKEY=misc%2fsearchResults.jsp&BV_SessionID=@@@@1511309130.1101171557@@@@&BV_EngineID=ccdladddeejjjhfcgelceffdfgidgkk.0&MID=9876understand

I bought a $10 one at a local store. It has a rotating dial in the center that you adjust to the current time and a tabs on the outside for each half-hour. You push down the tabs for the times you want it on, and it senses those as the dial rotates. You only have to set it once. Worked for me.

500 Watts means you can put up to 500 watts of equipment on the timer. Make sure you do not overload the rating on the timer, or else you can start a fire. 500 watts would be pushing 2x250 watt MH's, but would be fine for 2x175'ers. If you need more wattage, you can use multiple timers.

I had a manual timer and switched to a digital timer, the Intermatic timer actually. I would go digital if I were you, I seemed to have problems with the manual timer being off by a minute or 2 each night, so at the end of the month the thing was off by like an hour. Anyway just my .02
