I'm using a very simple sump/refuge design that is allowing pieces of macro to reach the main tank. the sump has the overflow area, then a bubble trap, then fuge, then one baffle, then return area.

what can i use to stop the pieces of cheato and caulerpa? I want something that will still allow pods to go through? I was going to use floss, but figured that it would stop most pods...what should i use?

shyne,

do you have a 'prefilter' on your return pump? Mag's can be fitted with a sponge or the new slitted thing they use now. However, both chaeto and caulerpa pull out easily. Just don't let them get established in your main tank if you don't want them growing there.

I siliconed a small strip of gutter guard across the top of my baffle between the refugium and the return chamber.
