Nitrite spike-Qt tank

Have 10 gal qt tank. running 1.012 salt and 80 temp. I have small amount of LR ,power head, and whisper filter using form filter from reg tank. I inserted form filter after only one week of seeding in reg tank. Today i found a 3.0 ppm nitrite spike on test. I changed 3 gal of water using 1 gal reg tank and 2 gal of r/o mix. New results show 2ppm of nitrite. Is this safe or what should I do next?

I think your LR may be dieing from the hyposalinity. I would remove the LR. What else do you have instead of the LR in the tank?
