toadstool leather health

Hey there! I was wondering if anyone knew about the behavior of toadstool leathers. I just purchased on at my LFS. The first few days it was completley expanded, however now it has closed up and has been for at least 3 days. Is there something wrong?
Also last night when the lights were out i noticed ( with a flashlight) a long filament that looked like a clear palm frond reaching out into the current, it looked like it was filtering for food, coming out from the top of the shaft. What is this and is it something to be concerned with? Any Info would help. Thanks!:strooper:

I think you posted in the wrong forum. This one is about issues to do with how the site is working. You might want to re-post in 'New to the Hobby'. You should also include some detail about your tank and water parameters if possible.
