This morning I noticed my RBTA has a REALLY gaping mouth. I immediately did a 20% water change and eventually it was happy again.

I did dose Chemi-clean three days ago (I did 20% water change after 48 hrs per instructed) and switched to Oceanic salt... I did notice the anemone didn't open as big ever since the dosing. Hopefully things are back to normal now!

One thing I noticed though, after I syphoned out 20% of my tank water and while I was waiting for the salt to mix, the anemone already closed it's mouth. Do BTAs open their mouth from time to time, or only do so when they are stressed?

IMO- only when they are stressed. You may have to do another water change sine you only did 20% the first time.

i have heard of other people switching salts, without acclimating to the new salt over time, and really freaking thier tanks out... to the extent of even losing some critters. that may be the problem more than the chemical.

fwiw,
