driftwood question

I was wondering if I use a great peice of driftwood for a brackish set up I have been fooling with. I have it in a 10 gal pail underwater. its been about two weeks now and the brown thats been comming out of it has slowed(tannic acid). I want to know if I should use it.I saw that some of the drift wood sold in stores needs the same process. Is this special wood or treated in some that makes it safe. Can any wood be used???

do you know what kind of wood it is?

the only reason i see for not using it would be it falling apart. most wood is not sutable for underwater use.

what do you plan to kkep in there?
