A rant on why I hate the winter.. kind of funny coming from a Canuck. :D

- It's cold. Period.
- It get's dark around 5:00 pm
- Any unprotected skin gets frost bite
- When it warms up just a tad bit it gets slushy
- The underside of your pets (ie when you walk your dog) becomes covered with slush
- Wet socks and pet paws smell

- When there is a snow storm you become trapped in your house
- After shovelling the driveway it snows even more
- After re-shovelling your driveway the snowplow comes and blocks your entrance with snow again
- Snow is a great camouflage for mysterious things if you catch my drift.
- Freezing ice and black ice causes accidents
- Winter is very cold and if you stand outside long enough you will freeze and die.

- All this snow and slush makes cars high speed moving dirt piles
- You constantly have to fill up with antifreeze
- Snow and salt contribute to the depreciation and rust of your car
- You need snow tires
- On clear sunny days it is very cold.
- Windchill makes it even colder.

- All the summer activities I love to do I can't because its winter
- I get tired easily in the winter - I also expel more energy to do simple things
- Sometimes when I walk - particularly on slushy days - I kick snow up on to the back of my pants.
- With coldness - means you have to buy clothes to keep you warm
- Nuclear fallout would mean it would become very cold - winter like.
- People are more prone to becoming sick; if not they are sniffing and sneezing everywhere

- I had a hard time finding neoprene (ie Can coolers) for my reef tank because it was nearing winter
- At night you need more blankets
- During a power outage because of a snowstorm or icestorm this could result in the death of your reef tank
- Winter means the heating bill goes up
- Winter brings the nutcases inside because it's too cold for them outside
- Snowballs sometimes hurt

- Some of my favourite sport you can't watch or play because it's just too cold.
- People are miserable during winter - like me
- I get jealous of people who go to warm places to escape the cold

I hate the grocery store in winter here in the DC area- if we even get a threat of flurries let alone 4 snow flakes actually fall, most people 'round here think its the end of the world and clean out the stores or milk, bread, toilet paper, and (*shudder*) BEER.heck, even if its just raining, people forget how to drive...

budhaboy,
And I thought that was a phenomenon that only happened here in Ark. Seriously wonder if the grocery stores give the weathermen a kickback for mentioning SNOW therfore increasing business a thousand times over.

Sounds good, then I'll get a chance to ride that new baby of yours!

On a different note! I sold my bike to a coworker a year ago, after a few months he blew the oil seals and froze the engine. Its been sitting for months now. He just offered it back to me for $150, Looks like I have a bike to rebuild.

I don't like the cold either. But just remember, when you're snowbound or even if you just don't feel like going out in the cold, you have more free time to just sit and look at your beautiful reef. :D Makes wintertime worth it for me.

No offense Sparrow, but you're from TORONTO! That's not winter, you're thinking of what we call "spring"! Jus' teasing ya! Really though, the worst part of winter is knowing it's going to happen again. Although this year's been weird up here - it's been 15 degrees (Celsius for all you Americans - pretty warm, but I don't know the Faranheit conversion) and it hasn't snowed. Normally it's white by Halloween. I just can't really imagine a green Christmas. Hey, what's it like in Southern Ont? My husband's driving down tomorrow, alone, and I'm a bit concerned as it's 15 hours from Thunder Bay.

LOL.. "spring." Hey I thought of one reason why I liked winter... It allows me to appreciate the other seasons better.

And Ivy, about the mosquitos I welcome them. I have this electrical mosquito killer (looks like a racket) that I picked up in China this summer. It's amazing.. I used it for camping with my friends and we had a blast zapping them out of the sky. We must have decimated the mosquito population by well over a hundred that whole weekend.

Covenant, it's still somewhat warm in TO. Green grass and very few leaves on the tree. I think tomorrow they are predicting 13 C and sunny skies... so winter hasn't officially started.

Glad I don't live in Thunderbay where Winter takes up 3 seasons. I just couldn't stand shoveling my driveway in July... hahaahah .. j/k ;)

Funny thing is, you're not kidding. 2 summers ago it snowed on Canada Day. But hey, I was in TO this summer the day after the aphid thing - I think muggy heat may be worse than bitter cold (it's easy to say this when it hasn't dipped below 0 yet!;) ).

Come to thing of it... I do prefer cold weather over extreme muggy heat. I rather become a frozen popsicle then sweat two gallons a day. I do, however, love dry heat. Ie. Desert heat. That is tolerable and it kinda feels nice.

Last summer I was in a tropical area with 100% humidity and temperatures rising 35+. Boy was that ever unpleasant.

Perhaps I should start another thread, 33 reasons why I hate muggy heat. LOL.

So, Covenant! thats what its like on your planet :D Bbbrrrrrrr

I can't imagine that kind of cold! but then again I sit on the beach on Christmas and watch the sailboats go by as well as the scantly clad beach bunnies :D

Geez I hate the snow:)

I work at an apt complex, with 92 units. When it snows, I have about 3 hours behind a snowblower, 3 hours behind a snow shovel, and an hour behind a salt spreader. I have 3 co- workers. One drives the truck w/ plow. The others shovel the walks.

I dread winter. Although, it is overtime:)

Last year NJ got hit quite a few times. Hopefully, this year will be a easy one:)

I love the snow and the change of temp., especially after a very hot summer. But I hate when it gets dark real early. Makes you want to go to sleep at 8:00pm. I hate that:mad:
