I posted this in the marine plant forum and got one response which was helpful, but am hoping for more. Maybe more will see this here. Thanks,

Anyone have any experience with the shaving brush plant? I am having trouble finding info on the internet about this. I have seen this one time at the LFS but they do not have it anymore and I have not seen any since. I think I want some. Does it need alot of light, does it re-produce, how big will it get, easy to keep, etc... Thanks,

its your basic macro alge.

Not very fast growing in my experiance, and the two i had didnt seem to last for more then 4 months(not sure if it died or my angle ate it though) but hey for $6 I wasnt to upset.

If you have tangs, they may eat it down to a nub :-( That's what happened to mine.

I agree with ender that it is very slow growing. My Tang and angle just loved to eat the stuff.

Look up Toms Caribbean on the net. He has it or can get it for.

It also needs lots of calcium and iron. The one I had grew like a weed and really consumed alot of calcium so I removed it.

I thought it was neat though and had flourescent green tips that glowed under actinics.

It did not take kindly to being cut back though.

Here is a pic showing the tips:
