hey guys

i think i am gonna try a rubbermaid sump...i see alot of people using them...and its cheaper than buy a glass tank and having it drilled at $10 a hole...

my question is, what about the heater position?...is there a concern that the heater could melt a hole in the plastic?...i have a WAN heater that has suction cups on it but if they come unhooked i might have problems?....maybe these heaters dont even get that hot to the touch?....

i was thinking i could put a glass plate or something in there for it to set on?...

also the heater says it should be positioned vertically, but i would guess most people have them horizontally unless you have a really deep sump?...is horizontally ok?...

thanks

I worried about the same thing when I set up my first "Rubbermaid Sump".
I used plastic ties to attach my heaters to a piece of eggcrate that sits on the bottom of my sump. The heaters never come in contact with the sump walls.

I use heater guards.
