So, I found a LFS that has an N. wennerae in stock... Cute little green one. I'm considering getting it but I'd only want it if I can keep it in a really small nano/pico tank. I'd prefer someting closer to a gal or two.
Now, my question is: What is the minimum size tank these guys can live in? The max I can go is 5 gal (due to space restrictions). If they cant tolerate such a small space, is there a species of mantis that can? I'd love to have one of these guys chillin next to me at work. :D

Thats not what I wanted to hear. :(

...now I find myself budgeting for my nano/mantis tank. Sounds like its Ramen for about a month for me. Mmm ramen. Heh.

Yeah, but thats way too big for my cubicle at work.
I need to get a smaller tank (the smaller the better) which seem to cost a bit more. Then I'll need filtration as well. Honestly it shouldnt run me all that much. I was just playing about the month of ramen... It'll be more like a week.
j/k :P
Ramen isnt so bad anyhow... Especially when you can do all this with it. http://mattfischer.com/ramen/recipe.html

you could prob get away with smaller also. one of those eclipse systems would be nice.

That was something more of what I was thinking. Maybe even smaller. Heh. Today I bought some sheets of plexi for various projects (ie: sump baffles). I got a sheet of extra thick stuff. Was considering constructing myself a little nanocube. Might bring me down to just a few days of ramen.

Use an eclipse explorer or 3g. I have one in a 6g eclipse, but am putting it in an exlorer.

An eclipse 5.5 hex worked well for my N. wennerae (2.5"), but you have to pay attention to the water quality (as I discovered too late....).
