im in the market for a new dig cam i need it for work first and play second tanks gen pics etc..

i have a budget of around 300-350

what do you sugest and why

a third option would be a water proof case id like to be able to take it out when we are riding our jet skis wave jumping

This forum doesn't get quite the traffic the others on this board do, so hopefully some people will chime in soon.

In the mean time, read as many reviews as you can at places like D P Review (http://dpreview.com/) and Steve's (http://www.steves-digicams.com/) to help get an idea of what's available that will work for your particular needs.

I have a Canon A80 and it takes good pictures. I believe it was in the $350 range. And you can buy adaptors for it to add filters, and a few lenses. It is also easy on the batterys (I still have rechargable ones though). Check out this thread (http://archive.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=425569) to see some pictures from a Canon A70 which is the predecessor to the A80.
