I'm wondering why you decided to sell this unit? Are you going with a different brand or style of top off system?

I'm interested - but somewhat leary because I'd rather not be number 3 to lose $30 on one.

What can you tell me about why you two decided against it?

Nothing to be leary about. It is a good product I just have no place to put a storage container to use this setup.. iIam going to go with a kent float valve. My rodi is about 50 feet from my tank and my ro line is run up in my ceiling to my sump. Just goign to run it to the float for top off. Thats the only reason I am selling it.. My stand is full with skimmer, reactor, zeo reactor soon, 3 external pumps and chiller and co2 tank are already behind the stand so absolutley no room for another bucket to hold the water. The tank is in my living room so I try to keep ot look as clean as I can.

Hi Jeff - can this take a 3 prong plug, or just 2?

SeanT

It only takes a 2 prong plug but a 3 to 2 adapter is what I used.

I have one of these and have been using it for almost a year now. Never had a problem with it. I was always leary of just having a float valve from my RO/DI, heard about too many floods and ruined tanks. With this setup, I use it on a 29g tank I use as a top-off storage tank. Prevents the flooding of my house and the severe dropping of the salinity if something does go wrong. Again, good product, just a matter of how you want to have your setup.

Yes this product would be the one of choice for me. I am a little bummed I couldn't work it into my setup. I am trying to think of failsafe ideas to use with my float valve. Does anybody have any good ideas in case the float valve gets stuck?

If it'll fit with your set-up, you'll LOVE it. I've been using mine for 7 months and no problems/no regrets. But I didn't pay 60$ for it. =( Close to 2x that. But as I saw in this thread if any one knows of a failsafe to use if the float valve gets stuck please let my know!! Thanks!

James, How is it working for u? I never even took it out of the box.. After getting it and thinking about it I could not incorporate it into my setup.. I have a kent float valve coming.

Peace, Jeff

Haven't even hooked it up yet. I have a kent float valve feeding a 30 gallon rubbermaid trashcan from my RODI unit. from there I plan on running a maxi 900 from the reef fanatic into a 20 gallon rubbermaid tub with a stem overflow running to the sump as my kalk unit.

I'm sure it will work fine - just need to find a timer that will run for 10 seconds every hour to stir the kalk tub.
