This is something that have always puzzled me. If bio balls and bio wheels are a nitrate factory and since Macro-algae consume Nitrates; Why can we use both in a reef set up? This will be the best of the two worlds since Bio-balls/Bio-wheels are such and efficient biological filter and macro-algae consume dissolved organics in the water including nitates. Does anybody use this type of set up succesfully?
