well, chaeto is good for the simple fact it will never 'go sexual' and nuke your tank...many many people have kept caulerpa with no problems, but that is the main drawback. if your fuge is lit 24/7, then there is no worries.

use as many as possible. avoid certian ones that will go sexual.. unless you trim them on a reguralr basis. chaeto is probably my fav.. a good starting point.

are you running your fuge on a reverse daylight to stabalize your ph?

I am going to run fuge 24/7 with two of those flood lights I got from Home Depot that I seen on another thread, I got them in Noblesville. Is the Miracle Mud worth the money? I just set this tank up last week shout I get the fuge going now or wait? I have it hooked up with sand and some LR with water flowing in and out of it......Thanks

HA HA we posted at the same time...

Personally i would load your fuge with macro algae AND piles and piles of live rock rubble from premium [$1.40 / pound or so] between the 2 in a predator free enviroment, you won't find a better brewing ground for pods. you growing area for pods and other micro-isms is 10 times more important in a fuge than the little nutrient export you get with the algae.

when i put the rubble in.. with in 3 weeks my amphipod population was off teh charts

Instead of the miracle mud I suggest something else - the "crude" that premium sells. It's from the bottom of their rock pool - here is their description "Sound crazy, we thought so too. It's available due to high demand. This is just mud, rubble, etc from the bottom of our live rock pools. Who knows what you get, bugs, crude, rock rubble, bacteria. Probably a great idea for the refugiums." AND it's only $1.50/lbs.

I added in 5lbs of rubble (also only $1.50) and 2lbs of crude in my 10g fuge along with a big mass of cheato and my pod life has been great since.

I put in 10LBS of rubble and 5LBS of crude. I have mangroves and chaeto on the way, should be here tomorrow....I hope to get a lot of life........
