I have a 220 gallon reef with a Scopas Tang that is about 2" and also a Blue tang about 4", I would like to add a Yellow Tang about 2" as well, will the Yellow and the Scopas fight?

Probably but the tank is so big that it will help but nothing is a forsure when you talk about compatible fish.

I have a yellow that is king of my tank. It doesn’t bother the Hippo much but will not tolerate any fish that it thinks is another yellow. I had a beautiful flagfin angel that I had in a QT for three weeks. Was eating great, very friendly, ... I put it in the display and the yellow tang killed it within an hour. :(
Every fish is different though.

No I can't roll the dice, I can't risk the inhabitants that I have, I really like my Scopas, looks like I'll have to wait till he goes to the big reef in the sky, before I have a Yellow Tang.

I think thats a good idea. I had a Yellow Tang kill a beautiful Sailfin Tang I had.

Your tank is very big and your tangs are small--I would say go ahead. Will probably work. My Purple is king (not too mean) of the 100gal and my yellow (HE IS MEAN) is king of the 75gal.

Anybody else think it won't be a problem ?

Change your tank around a little.

if you really want it... i say go for it.. take out scopas.. (easier said then done) and put them both in a QT tank... see what happens.. nothing? then acclimate them in.. i'm sure they will be fine... Yellows are very weird tangs... funny how they only can swim n schools or alone? silly fish!

I have all 4 tangs in my 225 and they do try and establish their dominance with each other, but otherwise are well behaved...They will occassionally posture with their rear slicers but no injury yet......Its funny watching them jockey for position in the middle of the tank which has an overhang......No one will say for sure its ok....you just can't tell until they have been added...Fish all have their own personality and will act accordingly....Good Luck...Dennis
