What's avg evaporation rate?

I have a 72g tank that will have 2x 250w mh 4x36 attinics. Could anyone give me an estimate of about how many gallons per day will evaporate?

I'm trying to figure out how large of a return area to build for my sump. Thanks.

I have a 40g with a single 250w hqi and I evap about 1000 ml a day easy. My Kent IV dripper is emptied every day and it is 1000 ml, wish I had gottent the bigger model.

Hi, on my 75 gallon i go through one gallon a day, i have an open tank with vho's and pc's.

It depends. SDRotary619 evaporates about a quart a day cvompared to onefin's gallon. It is affected by the relative humidity, type of lighting (heat input) and disturbance to the air layer over the water.

If you have a suction cup thermometer (or an algae clip, I guess), put the top of the suction cup at the top surface of the water (just as a marker for water level). Then measure how much water you need to add the next day to bring the level back to the mark. In my system (open top 75 g w/ 370 w PC lighting) I lose about 2-3 liters a day in the summer. I expect that will go up in the winter when the humidity goes way down.

In my 130 g. tank evaporation rate is 1 g. per day

I have an semi opened (not completly closed) tank with T5, 300W with high surface water motion.

My 58 loses about a gal a day. I have an open top. 2 175 MH w/192 watts PC, but for temp controll I have a clip on fan on the front of the tank. the fan is on about 17 hrs a day.

I lose almost 2 gallons a day on my 125 gallon (160 gallons total). I have 3 250 watt MH's and 2 6" clip on fans on the sump.
