Are flame angels reef safe?

Not 100%. They're hit or miss. A lot of people have success with keeping them in a reef. I wouldn't chance it though.

ok thanks so much. but i already bought it. they told me it was reef safe. the fish index website was down so i went with the lfs and when i put him in the tank he took a chunk out of my leather coral. im hoping it was just a fluke and he'll calm down

My advise would be to try to keep it well fed.
