HEY! I'm seeing a lot of empty photo galleries. Since R.C. changed their policy on pic attachments, the gallery (or personal website) is the only way for us to see what you have. Be proud of you reefs and post some pictures!:D

What was the change?

how'd you attach the pic directly to your post?

Oh, ok cool, by the way Rich. Last night's meeting was great!
I specially liked how welcoming everyone was. And finally found out how to pronounce nudibranch!

HI Rich,

Putting the pics inline with your post is easy. Just go to your picture in the gallery and right-click it, then click "properties". Cut the URL you see in the window and paste it in the IMG tag in your post.

http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/626618-01-04__4_.jpg

See, works like a charm even when you don't have much to show off yet! :D

All that does it put the URL into the post, not the pic.

Ok, here's the thing, you need to use the button that says "IMG". Click the IMG button and paste the URL into the box

then click OK. Your pic will be in your message.

http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/43056acromag-1.jpg

If you don't see the button I'm talking about just put "" at the beginning of the URL and "" at the end. (Don't use the " ")

If you're just using the "Quick Reply" box at the bottom of this thread, you won't see the "IMG" button I'm talking about. You need to go to the "Post Reply" button (slightly above and to the right of the Quick Reply box next to the "New Thread" button) to see the options I'm talking about.

Not an idiot at all, you just forgot about the very first thing I said to do. Go to your picture and right click it, then click "properties" us THAT URL when you click the IMG button.

RC won't work with "&" and such in the URL which you are taking from the address bar in your browser.

Hi Rich,

Upload your images at photobucket.com like Izsabelle said...it's free pic hosting. Your pic is then saved in three different picture/posting formats in your account. I then cut and paste the 3rd picture format that starts and ends with [img] into your thread posting.

Come on...let see some pics!

Rich

This is driving me crazy!! When I right-click I get "open", "open link in new window", "print", "save target as", "save picture as", "copy", "copy shortcut" or "add bookmark". No PROPERTIES to click on.:mad2:

 Yeah Rich!

Glad you got it to post inline!

When I right-click I get "open", "open link in new window", "print", "save target as", "save picture as", "copy", "copy shortcut" or "add bookmark". No PROPERTIES to click on.

I think you were right-clicking on the URL, next time try right-clicking directly on the picture itself.

Either way, you have a way that works now!

....here I thought it would be a long time before I was able to contribute anything useful to you pros. hee hee ;)

its easy.. i think everyone knows it but you can just type in
"http://www.yourimagelink"

just dont use quotes.

the feature that they disabled, just dosent allow you to attach a image from your desktop to the post itself.

I just added some pics to my gallery.. :D

didn't seem too hard, just the 50k size limit :mad2:

on a side note, what camera do you guys use to take to awesome close ups??

bzzbee2
08/23/2004, 07:25 PM
I have a old fuji finepix 2600. its a 2megapixel camera. to take the good closeups just get a camera that has a good macro mode. macro mode is usually designed for taking pics of things that are a couple feet or less away from the camera...

dang huy that green bta looks SWEET. where can i get one like that??? ooo good to see the pink is doing well.

user48953

The green bta was a clone from Bob (headshrink) a few months back.. it actually survived 2 different matches versus a maxi 1200.. since the maxi is no longer in the tank, guess the bta wins..

Try taking a picture through a magnifying glass. That's how I shot this one (10x):

thereefgeek

Also, experiment with all the settings on your camera. Macro mode, portrait, fast action. Try setting the f-stop and shutter speed manually. Turn off the flash when shooting through glass.
Lots of good info here too:http://reefcentral.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=118

I don't know how to do ANY OF THIS!
