In the last month I noticed this new growth.... The pic is'nt the greatest..but all I have for now. Anyone have any ideas?

the picture isn't showing here but i checked your gallery... are you talking about the brown polyp?.. or something else.. if so it's just a bonus with the live rock.. in this case it's a brown one.. palythoa? it'll grow and spread..

Sorry about that..... image link doesnt work. I did get it into my gallery...... The groeth in question is the white branch at the bottom

kinda tough to tell.. looks like it could be a sponge of sorts growing from behind the rock.. ?.. does it have openings that might resemble the osculum of a sponge?

Oh well, I tried some variations



Very interesting, it looks like another one is growing behind the brown polyp too.

Can you get another photo after some more time has passed to maybe give a clearer idea of what that is turning into?

Yes...there is another one behind the brown polyp....... I'll try to get better pictures...

Are sponges harmful? Is there any benefit to having them?

it is a good sign that your tank is stable. They are filter feeders so they help clean your tank.
