Can I leave Macro Algae in my main tank? What are the drawbacks???? I have no Refugium.

If it gets a foothold in your display..It can be a major PITA as it can easily take over.

People cultivate it in a fuge so it can be contained outside of the display and get all of the benefits at the same time. as far as how much is needed...as much as possible. pruning it from time to time is needed to keep it from growing our of control.

what is best? I have heard that Cheato is good, but I dont know where to find it. Also I have heard that you need lights 24/7 to keep it from going sexual on you. Sorry dont mean to piggy back your thread daprofessor.
