Hey guys,

The way my nassarius snails eat is just through whatever gets to the bottom of my tank... however very few gets to the bottom, since my 25g inhabits enough fish to take care of a lot of the food!!

I am fearing that I am losing nassarius snails to starvation--I have 17 in my tank.

Do you guys sometimes just drop a piece of shrimp to the floor to feed these guys? Or will they just somehow find a way to feast?

Thanks!

if u have fish which will eat dry seaweed like tangs wrap a piece around small piece of pvc w/ rubberband and place on bottom. what ever fish don't eat they will. good idea to do this later in day a couple hours before lights go out. then just leave it there. i bet by morning it'a all gone.

I still have mine after 10 months. I don't feed mine but I'm sure they get there fill of Mysis shrimp when I use it.

THat's my question, I have a scooter blenny and a possum wrasse that eats that stuff up fast! The clown and royal gramma take care of the rest! The little clown goby gets his share of the foods too...

Natural selection, you will end up with only enough to keep the substrate clean. Kind of the same thing with hermits, people dump a ton in their tank, the tank is picked clean, hermits start eating one another, only enough to keep the substrate clean are left.

IMO, normally, if a sand bed gets too clean, it means that they are starving.

So I'm assuming I should feed these bad boys no?

I don't want to lose snails... hehe

If you think they are not getting enough food, then yes.

For me normally I try to dump the food in one lot so that some of them don't get eaten and falls on the sand bed and these will be the shares for them.

Throw in a few sinking pellets occasionally. After your tank lights go out.

I agree with Melody. I throw in a couple pinches of Formula 1 or 2 pellets every night after lights out. My nassarius, hermits and even pods love them.

It's pretty funny seeing a pod running around with a pellet as big as his body. :D

Ummm, do nassarius eat algae/nori? If they do, mine must be the exception :)

I never add extra food. The nass. snails just pick up where the fish leave off.
