I meant to post a reply but I started a new thread now I can't delete it... so here's the original.

Hi all, just looking to get some advice on what type of lighting I would need in a 15 gallon tank (20'' deep) to support a wide range Soft Corals, LPS & SPS Corals. This will be my first reef tank, so I want to try a range of different corals. I've been trying to do my research but I've found lighting to be the most confusing so far. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

I'm not really in favor of paying that much for lighting yet, but was wondering if something like this work as well (http://www.windowtothesea.com/display.php?cat=18&subcat=271&item=1664) ? I know I wouldn't be able to keep as much with this as I would with the halide but it is 100$ cheaper. Is it worth spending the money on the halide or getting something such as this? I don't mind if I'm restricted somewhat on corals, but I would like to have a wide variety to choose from.

My recommendation: If you are even THINKING about SPS (or clams, for that matter) go ahead and spend the money on MH. Trust me, it will be worth the extra dough.
