I can not get rid of hair algae ....I think that is what it is reddish brown algae that blankets everything and gives of air bubble and becomes stringy if left alone ..Please help me it is driving me nuts .James

sounds like cyanobacteria to me.. I had it too, till I dosed my tank with chemi-clean and .. now it's gone! I haven't seen anymore for a month, either. I also increased my flow, and that's helped a good bit.

You will want to check to make sure that your bulbs are newer than a year old.

Check you phosphates, that is one of the biggest keys to fixing it, if you have high phosphates that is when it comes. (phosphates usually from tap water.

Make sure your skimmer is working well.

increase you water flow

check you nitrates

raise you calcium if low also.
